Throughout our history, American authors and movie directors have drawn upon both Jewish and Christian scriptures for themes, plots, and scenes. Through short readings, film clips, and visual art, Talitha Arnold explores the impact of ancient sacred texts on Melville’s Moby Dick and Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath.

Talitha Arnold (M.Div., Yale Divinity School; B.A., Pomona College) is Pastor of United Church of Santa Fe. She’s lectured on art, literature, and religion for Renesan, Yale University, Berkshire Choral Festival, Santa Fe Symphony & Chorus, Muslim Mental Health Institute, and other organizations.
